Last but not least is a new favorite of mine called SlideShare. SlideShare is the world's largest community for sharing presentations. With 60 million monthly visitors and 130 million page views, it is amongst the most visited 200 websites in the world. If you can't find inspiration from Slideshare, it's time for you to find a different career.

#3: The people that think PowerPoint is lame as a tool for retail training are themselves -well- lame! Click the link below to learn more.

I read an interesting article on Forbes.com last week titled "Here's Why Google and Facebook Might Completely Disappear in the Next 5 Years".

Facebook actually loses money on mobile and according to Eric Jackson, "it has no idea how it will make money in mobile".

It's much easier to ask Siri for information then it is to type search terms into Google.

Companies like Instagram (founded in 2012 and recently sold to Facebook for $1 billion) don't even think of launching a Website, they assume over time, people will use their mobile applications almost entirely instead of Websites.
The speed of change in the tech world is speeding up. Consider this fact: Apple has sold 67 million iPads in 2 years. And to put that in some context, it took Apple 24 years to sell that many Macs and 5 years for that many iPods and over 3 years for that many iPhones.
Jackson's article really get me thinking about the future of eLearning.
These changes will have a profound impact on the eLearning business.
Corporate eLearning tools like Flash that are not compatible with mobile devices are obsolete.
The corporate training function will change significantly in the next 5 years. In fact the corporate training function may be replaced by avatars that are powered by Artificial Intelligence. The concept is that you don’t need a training department as all your employees will have an avatar to assist them 24/7.
Watch this video to get a feel for how this might work in the very near future.
Does this video show the future of Corporate eLearning? I’m not sure...post a comment and let me know what you think.
Thats all I have for today, John.

Why You Need Effective FCPA (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act) Training

1. The SEC is on the war path!
According to FCPAblog.com, as of March 31, 2012, 81 companies now appear on the FCPA corporate investigations list. That's up from 78 at the end of 2011, and 74 from a year ago. So here’s the deal.... You need FCPA (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act) Training that your employees actually learn something from.
2. Your employees can get themselves and your company in serious trouble if they violate FCPA (Foreign Corrupt Practices) laws.
Here is a humorous video of what can happen if your employees don’t get the message.
3. FCPA (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act) violations cost your company lots of money!
In April 2011, Johnson & Johnson paid $78 million to settle claims that it violated the UN's Oil for Food program. In 2009, Haliburton paid over $550 million to settle claims that officials at a former division, including its head, had bribed officials in Nigeria while building a gas plant there. Bribes at German conglomerate Siemens, which is publicly traded in the U.S., were so pervasive around the world that it was forced to pay $800 million dollars to settle charges - the largest FCPA fine yet.
The good news is that there many options in the area of FCPA (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act) Training beyond the old and painfully boring “click and read” program that can be deployed through your LMS.
Option 1: You can purchase an off the shelf FCPA (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act) Training course. Click below for a free sample course.

Option 2: You can create a FCPA (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act) Training course yourself using one of the many rapid eLearning tools available.
Option 3: Have your FCPA (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act) Training course created by a third party. Click below if you would like a free sample created by our custom eLearning Studio.

How to Create Custom eLearning for Law Firm Training

With eLearning programs being rapidly implemented in Law firms, many training and development professionals come to us for guidance on how to create their own custom eLearning content. Follow these simple steps and you will be on your way in no time.
First
Find the materials you have been using in your live Training events

The good news is that eLearning Authoring tools are designed to take your existing PowerPoint presentations and turn them into eLearning material.
Next
Purchase a Rapid eLearning Authoring Tool

We really like working with Claro by Domiknow. Claro is a Web based authoring tool that produces eLearning in multiple formats including HTML5 so your Custom Law Firm Training will play on all devices including iPads. One big advantage of Claro is your team can collaborate in multiple locations to produce eLearning material as Claro is Web based.
Click Below to download a free trial of Claro
Then
Import your PowerPoint into Claro
One great thing about Web based tools is that there many video tutorials available to show you the ropes. So don’t panic! All is well. Then you want to add test questions. Not to worry, this is easy and straightforward and lots of tutorials available if you get stuck.

At this point you could actually push the “publish” button. WARNING! Don’t do this. Everyone will hate you because your custom Law Firm training will be painfully boring.
Why?
Because it won’t have your charming self presenting the material to add interest and excitement.
So, you need to add animations to make stuff move around. Don’t panic! Lots of tutorials available.
Also, you should add vocal tracks as well. If you want to get fancy and I know you do, you should also add background music to add depth to your content.

You can actually download background music for free at Soundcloud.
Click link below to visit Soundcloud
Finally

Now it's OK to Push the “Publish’ button
From there, upload to your LMS. If you don't have a LMS, we can help with that also.

That’s all I got for you today. Questions?

How to Deliver Law Firm Training in 2012

Thanks to recent developments in technology, 2012 marks the year that Law Firm Training will become more affordable, efficient and well..... better then ever.
I'm not talking about MCLE Training, I'm talking about training to get your firm's employees inspired and connected to your firm.

The iPad Changed Law Firm Training Forever. According to Apple, during the last 12 months, the company has sold 32 million iPads and 72 million iPhones. These devices are everywhere and are rapidly being deployed in firms around the world. Now you can purchase tablet computers to deliver your training curriculum to your employees. It's cheap, efficient and easy to implement.

Step One: Confirm WIFI Connectivity in your firm’s locations.
Chances are you already have connectivity in your locations but before you do anything, check with your IT department. There are several types of broadband Internet connections including DSL, T1 and fiber optic. All will work.

Step Two: Creating your Law Firm Training Curriculum
There is currently a huge technology shift in the world of eLearning. In a nutshell, old eLearning material written in Flash won’t play on mobile devices. Here is where HTML5, the latest version of the core technology of the Internet comes in. All this means to you is that your eLearning material needs to be in a format that will play eLearning content in HTML5 format as well as Flash.
Category 1, Off the Shelf Law Firm Training Courses you can purchase.
The most popular off the shelf compliance courses for law firms are:
■ Code of Conduct
■ Fraud Awareness and Detection
■ Preventing Discrimination and Harassment
■ Preventing Workplace Violence
■ Responsible Social Media Use
Category 2, Custom eLearning.
These are the courses that need to be written specifically for your law firm and include everything that is unique to your company.
Below are some examples

OK, so how do you create these Law Firm Training eLearning courses? It's not as hard as you might think. There are many software programs called "Authoring Tools" available. These tools allow you to take your existing Law Firm Training curriculum which is usually in PowerPoint and transform it into eLearning courses.
We recommend a web based authoring tool called Claro by DominKnow. One big advantage of Claro is your team can collaborate in multiple locations to produce eLearning material that will play on multiple devices including the iPhone and iPad. Click below for a free trial of Claro.

Another option is to hire a company like Cogentys to create your Law Firm Training courses. This will save you time and help you get your Law Firm Training up and running quickly.
